After many years of attempting to launch a website, we have finally done it! We are very excited to have this resource for students to have access to job and internship possibilities, events, GUSS legal documents, updates on what’s happening on campus and so forth. This will facilitate communication between students and the association as well as with the department.
For those who are new to Concordia, or simply do not know who and what GUSS is, here is your chance to find out!!
The Geography Undergraduate Student Society (GUSS) represents all undergraduate students in Human Environment, Environmental Science and Environmental Geography within the Geography, Planning and Environment department at Concordia University. It is an accredited student association recognized by the government of Québec. GUSS is a democratic student group that exists to voice geography students’ opinions, concerns and represent them at the departmental and university level. GUSS collaborates with other member associations of the department (Urban Planning Association (UPA) and Geography Graduates (GEOgrads)) to bring students events and activities related to their field of studies. GUSS also teams up with various groups on campus to organize fun and interesting events.
We are here to help YOU succeed in YOUR degree, and to have as much fun as possible while doing so. GUSS has planned a wide range of events such as bi-annual wine and cheeses, speaker series, garlic planting workshops, window garden workshops, potlucks, game nights, and hiking trips. We are here to assist you with any difficulties you may be experiencing and guide you to the proper help (advising, job opportunities, housing issues, financial aid, etc).
This year, GUSS will be hosting many different events! Our first event of the season is a tropical themed party in collaboration with SASU (Sociology and Anthropology Student Union)! To find out more, please click on the link here. Other events planned for this semester include trivia night, hiking trip, job information seminar, games night, pub outings and a possible sugar shack event!
And as always, don’t for get to stop by our office when you are studying on the 12th floor!
